Lydia Koku is a doctoral student and Graduate Research Assistant in the Racism and Racial Experiences (RARE) workgroup. Their research explores the differences in Black people’s experiences of the life course. Particularly, they examine how the state truncates the lives of Black people across the perceived boundaries of time and space, and how Black individuals, families, and communities resist in response or in preparation.
Lydia graduated from Swarthmore College with their B.A. in Sociology and Educational Studies in 2018. They hold a minor in Psychology.
