Kevin Loughran is a Postdoctoral Fellow in the Department of Sociology at Rice University. Kevin studies the politics of urban parks and public spaces; growth machines and historic preservation; urban flooding in the time of climate change; and the urban-sociological thought of W.E.B. Du Bois, as well as processes of racial inequality and citymaking more generally. His research has been published in Sociological Theory, City & Community, Du Bois Review, Urban Studies, Sociological Forum, Environment and Planning A, and several edited collections. Kevin received his Ph.D. in Sociology from Northwestern University in 2017. Previously, he received two M.A. degrees from Columbia University and his B.S. from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
